Epson has launched its new Moverio BT-35E Smart Glasses. Featuring an interface unit with HDMI and USB-C ports, the glasses can be used for several applications including enterprise drone piloting, remote field support and visitor experiences.
The device functions as a wearable display for any standard HDMI 1.4 output device, as well as any USB Type-C device that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, eliminating the need to create or port new content to the Moverio platform.
Designed for daily use, the glasses allow users to keep their display in front of them as they carry out their tasks and provides plug-and-play operation, with no special software required. The device features transparent Si-OLED binocular displays based on 0.43″ 1280 x 720 OLED devices built on a Mono Crystalline Silicon Active Matrix and giving a field of view of 23º equivalent to a 40″ display at 2.5 or 320″ at 20m. 24 bit colour is supported and the refresh rate is 30Hz. The integrated camera is a 5ms unit and there is an integrated compass, a microphone and an ambient light sensor.
The glasses also support HDCP 1.4 and are safety-glass compliant.
Moverio BT-35E Smart Glasses are available now, priced at $899, through authorised Epson resellers and the company website.
