Epson emphasised its support network with Coverplus 365: the next generation of its service programme. Installation customers signing up to Coverplus will be able to contact trained Epson employees for support at all stages, from pre-sales to installation. Customers will also have access to back-up units, depending on the scale of the installation.
Paul White, product manager at Epson, told us about Epson’s new (and first) 3LCD laser projector. This model, the EH-LS10000, uses dual blue lasers, which are directed through a filter and a phosphor to produce red and green.
As a solid-state model, the LS10000 will operate for up to 30,000 hours in eco mode. The lasers also provide sRGB and – with the cinema filter – DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB coverage. It has 1920 x 1080 resolution, 1,500 lumens of brightness and a very high contrast ratio, as the laser is capable of simply switching off to show blacks. The projector has a powered lens shift (+/-90% vertical and +/-40% horizontal) and 2.1x zoom. It will be launched on 1st April, for €5,835 ex VAT.
In more traditional projectors, Epson has updated its EB-G6000 series with several new models: the EB-G6970WU, EB-G6770WU, EB-G6570WU, EB-G6270W, EB-G6070W, EB-G6870 and EB-G6370. All of these projectors feature HDBaseT connectivity and an enhanced lens that reduces lens flare and improves focus. They will also be available from April.
Finally, Epson was – of course – showing a demonstration of 3LCD technology versus DLP. The company was nowhere near as subtle as it has been in previous years, making no effort to cover the Optoma branding on the ‘competing’ projector. To add insult to injury, Optoma’s stand was just across from Epson’s, facing the demo area! (For comments on this see our Optoma article – Partnership Promotes Mapping at Optoma.)
