What They Say
PlayNitride has done a deal with Epistar for the PlayNitride Display Co Ltd to collaborate with Epistar to build a 6” Micro LED Chip-On-Wafer (COW) production line at a site to be designated by Epistar. In consideration for PlayNitride Display’s collaboration and services provided under the Cooperation Agreement, Epistar will pay PlayNitride Display a total of NT$600 million ($19 million).
What We Think
Epistar has a lot of strength in LED and PlayNitride has some good technology, so this looks like a deal that should move things on. I could do with one of David Hsieh’s excellent charts showing all the LED relationships! As we have reported, Samsung is using PlayNitride LEDs.
