I was a bit surprised to see a new LCD projector from Emotn that was reported to have output of ‘over 8500 lumens’. That would not be surprising except that the device is listing at $169 on Amazon! A bit more of a dig showed that it has 130 ANSI lumens and 250 of some other kind of lumens! Resolution is 1280 x 720 and the device is claimed to have native contrast of 5,500:1. It is a full system and runs Linux. There is a fixed lens with a recommended image size from 50″ to 120″ at a distance of 1-3 metres
What We Think
My guess is that the quoted 8500 lumens is what is coming out of the LED light source. I suspect, given the size and shape, like the first LCD projectors, this has a single smartphone panel over a white LED source, rather than a 3LCD configuration. Still, it’s cheap! (BR)
