eMagin has announced that it has been selected as a single-source supplier of OLED microdisplays for a US Army helicopter helmet upgrade. The contract is for the retrofit of high brightness, monochrome green microdisplays into the current helmet. The contract will also provide funding for production tooling for a higher-level display, taper, and lens assembly. After ground and flight testing have been completed, it is anticipated that full production will commence next year and continue for several years to complete retrofits for over 1000 airframes.
