Eizo Upgrades Medical Display With New Backlight

Eizo’s new medical monitor, the RadiForce MX242W, is an upgrade to the MX241W. Now featuring an LED backlight with a long (15,000-hour) lifetime, the unit is multi-modal; it can be used in applications including CR, CT, MRI and endoscopy.

Specific calibration is a requirement in medical monitors, so the MX242W is set to DICOM greyscale. Calibration can be maintained using the bundled RadiCS LE software, which corrects brightness and greyscale tones.

A drift correction function stabilises the monitor brightness level quickly on start-up/wake. A sensor is also featured, which measures and compensates for backlight brightness changes. It is one of the features of Eizo’s Digital Uniformity Equaliser, which also evens out fluctuations in chroma.

The monitor can tilt, swivel and is height-adjustable. Image can be partitioned across the display with ScreenSlicer software.

A 24.1″ display, with 1920 x 1200 resolution, is built with an IPS panel. The panel provides 178 deg viewing angles; 10-bit colour; a 1,000:1 contrast ratio; and 12ms response time. Brightness is 350 cd/m², or 180 cd/m² calibrated. DisplayPort, DVI-D and USB (x2) ports are featured.

Eizo is selling the MX242W now; price is on application.
