dvLED Sales Continue Growth Despite Q1’23 Slowdown,

PMA Research has been tracking direct-view LED (dvLED) sales in the US through distribution and Pro AV channels since 2019. Pre-pandemic sales experienced exponential growth, with 2019 revenues reaching five times those of 2018. Despite the pandemic, dvLED sales continued to grow in 2020, 2021, and 2022 with revenue increases of 13%, 45%, and 39% respectively.

Though sales of dvLED have slowed down in Q1’23, PMA believes the industry remains vibrant with many bids in progress. Parts and labor shortages have delayed large custom AV installations tied to renovation and construction projects. However, video walls are being installed in corporate lobbies, higher education settings, and entertainment venues, which will continue to fuel growth for this category.

As manufacturers and distributors refine bundled dvLED packages for “less-custom” use, the category is expected to expand further. Several manufacturers have also introduced all-in-one products that can be easily transported and used in various settings.
