DNP Focuses on Short Throw Screens

One of the clear outcomes of the Display Summit China event was the wide support for short throw laser TV products in China. These need special screens that can accept the light at a sharp upward angle, project it in a wide viewing cone and reject ambient light as much as possible. The demos shown at this and other events, proves this can be done with good effect.

For the laser TV scenario where the projector is mounted below the screen, DNP has developed circular Fresnel technology. This can also work when the projector is mounted above the screen and the screen is reversed, but it is less effective. Why? Because the screen is designed to eliminate light coming from the ceiling so it must compete with the projector if the projector is ceiling mounted.

The construction of the circular Fresnel is shown in the diagram.

The second technology they have for short throw is the lenticular screen.
