Dell has announced new notebooks in its XPS and Inspiron series and highlighted the display performance.
The XPS 13 is claimed to be the smallest 13″ notebook with a ‘virtually borderless’ InfinityEdge display of 13.3″ in an ’11 inch frame’ and fitted with Gorilla Glass. The display is available in FullHD or 3200 x 1800 display with touch. Processors are up to 7th Generation Core i7 with RAM up to 8GB and 256GB SSD. There’s a larger battery, at 60Whr, for up to 22 hours on FullHD or 13 hours on the higher resolution display. Dell said that the model is 17% smaller than the comparable MacBook Air 13″. Weight starts at 2.7lb (1.2kg) and thickness varies from 9-15mm.
The XPS 13 is available on Oct. 4 and the starting price for the XPS 13 is $799, but rises significantly for higher specifications.
The Inspiron 15 and 17 5000 notebooks are for desktop replacement and there is a FullHD display on the 15″, 1600 x 900 on the 17″. Again, processors up to Core i7 are supported and there is an optical disk, with DVDs and Blu-ray option. Touch is optional, as is a camera (only on touch-enabled configurations). Pricing starts from $549.
