We reported on the start of CSOT’s new G6 flexible OLED fab last month. Now the ET News in Korea has reported on details of the firm’s equipment plans, which are said to be similar to the setup used by Samsung. The paper said that the deposition equipment is from Canon Tokki, rather than Korean company, Sunic, which had been hoping to supply its equipment.
Encapsulation is based on Kateeva’s thin film encapsulation equipment. AP Sytems has won orders worth $62.2 million for Excimer Laser Annealing equipment and has already won business for its Laser Lift-off equipment.
The paper said that the fab will be finished by mid-2018 and equipment installed in the second half, with production planned for early 2019. By 2020, the company is expected to be the fifth largest supplier of OLEDs, with around 5% of the market, according to data quoted by ET News from IHS Markit. At that point, Samsung Display will have 52% of capacity, BOE will have 15%, LGD will be on 11%, Tianma on 6% and with Visionox and EDO at 4%.
