Cree and Epistar have signed a global agreement for LED chip patent cross-licensing. The intent is to advance the growth of the LED lighting and bulb markets.
Under the terms of the agreement, both parties will receive a licence to the other’s nitride LED chip patents. They are also granted certain rights to non-nitride LED chip patents. Cree will receiving a licensing fee and royalty payments from Epistar over the course of the agreement.
