Epistar is planning to start making microLED chips at about 100 micron size in the second half of 2017 and to be used in large displays according to a report from Digitimes. The bloq quoted the Epistar president, Jou Ming-jiunn as saying that costs are still too high for use in TVs or smartphones. The report said that Epistar has reached the performance it wants in the lab and is working on yield and stability before production can begin.
