A patent that seemingly details an Apple smartwatch with a circular face has been approved, having originally been filed back in January 2016, less than a year after the launch of the first Apple Watch.
Samsung’s Gear smartwatches and many devices running Google’s Wear OS have opted for a circular design in recent years, though the Apple Watch has stuck with a rectangular face through three major releases.

Of course, as with all patents, its mere existence doesn’t mean that anything is necessarily in development over at Apple, though I will admit to having a preference for a circular face on a smartwatch myself. Practicality aside, I like the marrying of tradition with technology that a round design brings to a wearable. (AF)
