Close Up of the Nintendo Switch OLED

What They Say

The Verge has taken a close-up shot of a Nintendo OLED Switch console and showed that it doesn’t have the pentile matrix pattern of pixels that are seen on Samsung smartphones. The blog suggests that it may come from LG Display, but our sources say that the rigid OLED comes from Samsung’s A2 fab.

What We Think

Of course, the pentile matrix pixel configurations are used on the flexible OLEDs. They would need very specific drivers to get optimum image quality. That would limit the potential market for IT-style applications which might want to be able to support LCD and OLED options, so would require conventional driving and pixel structure. (BR)
