UK-based shoe company, Clarks, has begun measuring children’s feet in a very 21st-century way – with iPads. Innovation manager Chris Towns said that he hopes using the tablets will make the experience more fun – the iPads have cartoon characters talking the children through the process. Quieter shops might also be a benefit! Clarks will gather huge amounts of data from the system, which will be sent back to its UK headquarters. (I’m old enough to remember as a child having my feet measured using an X-ray system – a technology that was later banned because of the radiation concerns – Man. Ed.)
