CITE Holds AUO’s Display Developments

AUO has shown a host of new products at the CITE 2016 exhibition in China.

Foremost was the company’s new thin-bezel LCD TV (AUO Shows AMOLED for 2016). This 65″ product uses edge-to-edge glass and AUO’s Gate on Array (GOA) technology to present a ‘bezel-less’ design. It also has features such as UltraHD resolution, a curved design, wide colour gamut and HDR.

55″ narrow bezel video wall displays were also on show, with a 1.8mm pixel-to-pixel distance. AUO claims to have made changes to the design of the backlight module, which reduces the power consumption of the display. The most pronounced power saving comes when these displays are used together as part of a video wall, operating for long periods, the company says.

Other digital signage displays included 65″, 37″ and 32″ high-brightness (2,500 cd/m²) units. The 65″ model is for outdoor use, and the smaller models can be installed either vertically or horizontally.

Next were AUO’s gaming displays. These monitors range from 24″ – 35″, and include displays with edge-to-edge glass and a curved design (1,800R). They feature a 144Hz refresh rate and resolutions of 2560 x 1440 and 2560 x 1080.

A 12.3″ in-car display was shown, with 2880 x 1080 resolution. AUO has applied ‘free form cutting’ technology to produce a very smooth edge. It also has wide viewing angles, wide colour gamut and is weather-resistant.

Finally was a 5.5″ 1920 x 1080 AMOLED display, intended for use in VR headsets. The panel has 403ppi and includes all of the benefits of OLED technology: a fast response time, high colour saturation and high contrast. Nearby, AUO was demonstrating its smartwatch AMOLED displays.
