Christie’s Q-Series Controls Sharpness and Shading

Christie has added new projectors to its 1DLP range, with high brightness and dual- or single-lamp operation modes. The three models (DWX851-Q, DHD851-Q and DWU851-Q) can be operated in portrait or landscape modes and are designed for mid- to large-size venues.

As well as two colour wheels (favouring brightness or colour), the new models include Christie’s eClarity technology. This feature provides users with improved control over image sharpness, gloss and shading.

Each projector uses two 350W lamps, lasting for between 2,000 and 4,000 hours (1,000 hours in portrait mode). Contrast ratio is 2,500:1. Ports for HDMI (x2), DVI-D, mini-VGA, composite, 5BNC, USB, RJ45 (for HDBaseT), RJ45 (for LAN) and RS232 are featured. The DHD851-Q also has a 3G-SDI port.

Six lens options are available, with throw ratios ranging from 0.8 – 1.0:1 to 5.7 – 9:1. Vertical offset is -50 deg /135 deg (-50 deg /105 deg with extra short-throw lens) and +/-22 deg horizontal. All models measure 463 x 537 x 174mm and weigh 17kg.

The DWX851-Q has 1280 x 800 resolution and can supply 7,900 lumens of brightness. Resolution rises to 1920 x 1080 on the DHD851-Q (7,500 lumens) and 1920 x 1200 on the DWU851-Q (7,900 lumens).

Christie’s new projectors will be available this month. Prices have not been announced.
