Chinese Government Expected to Approve LG’s Guangzhou OLED Fab

Sources close to the Korea Times have revealed that LG will soon build its 8.5G OLED TV production line in Guangzhou, China, subject to conditional approval from the country’s authorities, who are expected to approve the plans but are also keen to promote partnerships between LG and the country’s own manufacturers.

The plant, currently scheduled to open in early 2020, will have a production capacity of 60,000 substrates per month, according to OLED Info, but will operate at half this capacity during its initial phase. LG’s plans were approved by the Korean government in November 2017, after a lengthy deliberation process.
