Taiwan analyst, TrendForce said that the IC design industry in China would achieve revenues of RMB 200.6 billion in 2017 ($30.3 billion), a yearly growth of 22% and 2018 is expected to see 20% growth. The company pointed out that HiSilicon has already adopted 10nm technology in its chips for mobile phones. Unigroup Spreadtrum RDA, Datang, and HiSilicon have released products for 5G network
HiSilicon has seen growth of more than 25% because of better adoption of its Kirin chips in smartphones, including in devices from the company’s parent company, Huawei. Goodix saw growth of 25% in its fingerprint recognition technology.
According to the latest report of TrendForce, China’s IC design industry revenue will reach RMB 200.6 billion in 2017, a yearly growth of 22%. The growth rate is expected to remain at around 20%, totaling RMB 240 billion in 2018, pointed out by Cici Zhang, analyst of TrendForce.
The company said that it expects sales of RMB 240.7 billion ($36.36 billion) in 2018.
