Touch panel makers in China plan to lower in-cell pricing by 15% – 20% this year, to increase their competitiveness and retain a leading market share, say supply chain sources. More handset vendors in the country are expected to use in-cell touch in mid-range and high-end units this year and will seek competitively-priced solutions. Huawei and Oppo, for example, are said to be seeking $18 – $20 prices per 5″ unit. In-cell touch panels for use in Chinese smartphones are expected to increase 30% – 35% this year.
