DSCC has released its latest Fab Utilisation report and released some details on is blog. In Q4, the total TFT input for all display makers was up 3% Q/Q and 15% Y/Y at 79.4M , and in the current Q1 2021, the firm expects total TFT input to be flat Q/Q but up 12% Y/Y at 79.6M m².
Highlighting the geographical shifts in the industry, by Q2 2021, China will be 61% of all industry TFT input and BOE will represent 26% of industry TFT input, with CSOT at 13%.
LG has high utlisation for its OLED TV lines and that continues, although there were ‘stumbles’ during the ramp-up in Guangzhou, but strong sales and new sizes of TVs are now meaning high production again. Flexible OLEDs.
The firm highlighted the seasonal nature of utilisation in foldable OLEDs, with boosts in the second half of the year. More aggressive pricing has boosted utilisation in rigid OLEDs.

What We Think
Although the chart on regional input is hardly news, I have rarely seen a chart that so simply shows what is happening in the industry, geographically, from the supply side!
The chart on utilisation by display technology is useful to get a sense of pricing trends. (BR)
