A new report released by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has revealed that Chinese manufacturers made over 1.1 billion handsets between January and July 2017, representing a growth of 4% year-on-year.
Of this number, 820.75 million were smartphones, a growth of 3.4%. Additionally, 95.34 million notebooks and 25.06 million desktops were produced in the same time period, a growth of 11% and 8.2% respectively.
Meanwhile, tablet production dropped by 0.2% with 46.37 million made. The country’s biggest drop was in the LCD TV market. Chinese firms made 81.55 million units, a decline of 8.3%. 54.32 million of these were Smart TVs, a drop of 2.4%.
