What They Say
StepVR of China has a new headset and a complete ‘omnidirectional motion system’ for VR. It includes an omnidirectional treadmill, haptics, VR displays, and motion capture gloves in a 3 m² ‘cage’. The system is said to have been sold to 140 locations in China so far and will be introduced to 60 more before being released worldwide.
The headset is said to have ‘solid 4K resolution’ (so, probably, 2 x 2K x 2K) and use pancake optics to keep weight down to 150 gms.
The system is said to cost $2,000 to $2,500.
There are videos on the link (in Chinese) showing the treadmill and the headset.
What We Think
I was surprised to see the reported cost, quoted by InsideXR, but I couldn’t see confirmation of it anywhere, so treat the information with care! (BR)
