Christie Tweaks 4K30, Removes 4K

After the successful launch of its six-lamp Boxer 4K30 (Christie & Barco Introduce 30K Lumen Projectors), Christie has returned to the design to develop a 2k version, known as the Boxer 30.

Using the same chassis as the 4K30, the Boxer 30 features two resolutions: either 1920 x 1080 or 2048 x 1080. It has a 60Hz refresh rate, with an optional upgrade to 120Hz, and features Christie Twist, for blending and warping.

Like the 4K30, the Boxer 30 uses six 450W lamps, outputting 30,000 centre lumens (29,000 ANSI). These will last 1,500 hours to 70% brightness. NFC can be used to monitor the lamp hours and serial numbers of each lamp. Other capabilities, such as 360° projection and a preview screen, are also shared with the DCI-4k model.

The Boxer 30 is a 3DLP projector with a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and multiple lens options. These range from 0.72:1 (fixed) to 5.43-7.69:1. DisplayPort (x2), HDMI (x2), dual-link DVI, 3G HD-SDI (x2) and HDBaseT ports are featured. The projector measures 597 x 959 x 305mm and weighs 72.5kg.

We are checking the price of this unit with Christie. The Boxer 4K30 costs $110,000, for comparison.
