If you register for the Consumer Electronics Show as an analyst or member of the press, the CES folks distribute your contact info to all of the CES exhibitors. Many of these exhibitors then invite us to see their booths, visit their suites, get jolly at their receptions, and/or speak with their executives.
Some of these invitations are well targeted, which in our case means they have something to do with displays, display components, or display-centric products. Others, not so much. With CES fast approaching, I thought I would share with you a few of the invitations I didn’t answer.
Not Shaken or Stirred: K-Cupped
We are launching our Cocktail Machine at CES and would love to set aside some time for you to preview the product.
Born out of two incubators in Canada by cocktail & mechanical engineers, this machine with capsule tech (think Nespresso) will be on the shelves of major retailers in November, 2016.
We are located in the HAX booth – Eureka Park #80924.
I am in and out of the booth pitching investors throughout the event, so fire me a text or email when you’d like to meet – and I’ll be sure to make myself available to you.
Best,
Ryan Close

Get More Out of Your Charging Experience
AeroVironment…is at CES 2016 to showcase TurboCord: the smallest, lightest and most flexible plug-in electric vehicle (EV) charger on the market today. TurboCord lets consumers get more out of their EV charging experience by minimizing charge time to 4-6 hours vs. the up to 18 hours with typical chargers.
Want to see for yourself? I am now setting up CES appointments and demos at Digital Experience on Tuesday, January 5 from 7-10:30 pm at the Mirage Hotel. Can we include you?
Hope to hear from you!
Thanks!

Down with Unhealthy Light Bulbs!
Dear Kenneth Werner,
My name is Aleksey Dubov and I am a CEO at SVET startup. I’d like to present to you the health-improving, feature-packed light bulb SVET to be unveiled at CES 2016.
Tradematic LLC is showcasing its cutting-edge lighting solution at the upcoming CES 2016. SVET – as the product is called – is a versatile light bulb that outputs high-quality light on par with natural sunlight. The light bulb is designed to introduce an unparalleled level of health safety and functionality to home and office lighting.
Since virtually every artificial light source has an adverse effect on health, the developer’s challenge with SVET was to make the artificial light as natural as possible. Each SVET bulb contains state-of-the-art light-emitting diodes able to output flicker-free light in full spectrum and a wide color temperature range. This makes the light emitted very close to actual sunlight, with a more natural color rendering compared to standard light bulbs. Such light is very important for eye health, as natural colors are more comfortable for the eyes.
Another key feature of the appliance is its ability to closely replicate natural light dynamics, tuning the light output in accordance with sunlight variance. For example, SVET will automatically soften the lighting towards evening hours, emulating the sunset and promoting relaxation, while in the morning, the light output will be harder and colder, matching the properties of dawn light. Such light behavior is very beneficial for the body’s biological clock – adherence to the natural light day is known to improve the quality of sleep and general physical and mental state, as well as reduce stress.
Tradematic will have working samples on display in their booth at CES showfloor, located in Hall G, Level 1 of Sands Expo (Booth # 80648).
Sincerely yours,
Aleksey Dubov,
CEO & Founder
Get More Out of Your Charging Experience (Low-Current Version)
Hi Kenneth,
At CES we want to offer you a briefing opportunity where for the first time, Ossia and Si-Ware Systems will demo the FIRST true wireless charging solution with a 30-foot radius – no charging mats or other connections needed. It uses smart antenna technology to avoid obstacles and track moving mobile devices. It charges anywhere in the house and uses plug and play receiver chips with power management for mobile devices, wearables and IoT-enabled equipment. And it has a tiny footprint – it can fit into a AA battery.
The solution is built around a proven, cost-effective transmitter/receiver chipset from Si-Ware. The receiver chips — for embedding in mobile devices, wearables, or IoT-enabled equipment –are highly cost-effective and manufactured using standard CMOS processes.
Si-Ware will be at the Ossia booth (Tech West, Sands Expo, Level 2, booth 72971) showing off the solution and its unique chipset. Let us know when you are available to learn about the technology and we will set up a time.
Best,
Erica and Tom

You get the idea. The invitations in general range from convincing to dubious, and from interesting to ho-hum. On the subject of ho-hum…. Never mind. (KW)
