Canon Adds DLP & LCOS Projectors

Canon has four new projectors, two based on DLP technology and one based on its 3LCOS technology.

The REALiS WUX6500 Pro AV LCOS Projector is an interchangeable lens unit and has 6,500 Ansi lumens of output with 1920 x 1200 resolution and is a development of the WUX6000 and WUX6100. Contrast is 2,000:1 and the lamp is a 370W NSH type with 3,000 life. There are five lenses with different throw ratios:

  • Ultra Wide Angle Lens RS-IL03WF 0.80:1
  • Short Focus Zoom Lens RS-IL05WZ 1.00 – 1.50:1
  • Standard Zoom Lens RS-IL01ST 1.49 – 2.24:1
  • Long Focus Zoom Lens RS-IL02LZ 2.19 – 3.74:1
  • Ultra Long Focus Zoom Lens RS-IL04UL 3.55 – 6.94:1

This product is designed for installation and has motorised zoom, focus and lens shift (±20º) and connections include HDBaseT, HDMI (with deep colour) and DVI-I as well as VGA. Audio is 5W mono and noise is 43db. Weight is 8.5kg and size is 17 x 38 x 37cm. The price is $4,999.

Canon’s WUX6500 has 3 LCOS chips.

The LV-HD420 supports FullHD with 4,200 Ansi lumens and 8,000:1 contrast from a six segment colour wheel and 310W SHP lamp with 2500 hour life. Inputs are VGA and dual HDMI (with one MHL) and there’s a VGA out. The lens has a throw ratio of 1.83:1 – 2.75:1 and audio is 10W mono. US pricing is $1,699.

The LV-X420 drops resolution to 1024 x 768 and has the same brightness but contrast of 10,000:1. Pricing is $1,099.

Canon in the UK also announced a half price demonstration unit of any projector model, along with half price lenses for new customers.
