California has published legislation (AB 984) allowing the use of electronic licence plates for vehicles. The state previously had a pilot programme. (Michigan Allows Digital Licence Plates).
Reviver said that its digital licence plates (based on E Ink technology) are currently legal for sale and DMV registration in California, Michigan, Arizona, and Texas for commercial fleet vehicles. More than 10 additional U.S. states are in various stages of adoption, it added.

As we reported before, New Vision Displays (home of the ZBD technology) also worked on this application, but found that even though its products were correctly qualified for automotive applications, in practice they faced big environmental challenges. (BR)
