Counterpoint Research published a BoM analysis of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra which, the firm said, is intended to improve Xiaomi’s presence in the >$600 market for smartphones in the Chinese market. The BoM has increased, with 8GB/256GB is $516 while the market price is around $900. The Sansung E5 LTPO 2.0 OLED display is reckoned to have cost $89, more than the cameras.
Xiaomi saw its share of this segment of the market dropped by half early in 2022, but rebounded after price cuts. The previous version, Xiaomi Ultra 11, is estimated to have sold around two million units.
