BOE’s 3rd flexible OLED line at Chongqing starts production

What They Say

The Elec has reported that BOE has started production at its B12 flexible OLED display production line. The blog reports that there are three stages to the development and it is the first phase that has started. The second stage is expected to start in 2022 with phase 3 at the end of the year or early in 2023, slightly delayed from initial plans. The final capacity of all three phases is 48K G6 (1500 x 1850mm) substrates per month with each phase bringing 16K/month.

The first customer is Oppo and displays to the firm are expected to be shipped before the end of this year.

The Elec said that the expansion will bring BOE’s capacity to 144K substrates per month, in line with Samsung’s output. Samsung’s output has reduced as it has adopted more sophisticated technologies such as LTPO. Samsung has plans to further expand in 2023.
