What They Say
DSCC has found an interesting talk by BOE at Display Week about the development of ‘water drop shaped’ hinges. The hinge is less tight than the kind of hinge used by Samsung, but can allow a smartphone to be completely closed.
A blog article describes the ‘waviness’ and reliability challenges.
What We Think
The degree of complexity and precision in some of these mechanisms amazes me. That difference or more would be, I guess, the cost of the hinge. (BR)
