The 8K Association contacted BOE to get more information about a 110″ 8K 120Hz LCD that had been developed. The article points out that the panel uses the same technology as a recent demo of a 27″ 500Hz panel. (World’s Fastest Gaming Monitor Hits 500 Hz Refresh Rate). The backplane is IGZO and the firm has mitigated the problems of driving the pixels on a large panel with high resolution and refresh by adopting copper-based interconnect technology. The copper lines are protected by silicon nitride, the 8KA said.
Colour coverage is 98% of sRGB and contrast of the panel is 1,200:1.
What We Think
At this kind of size and refresh rate, 8K makes sense even to me! It tempted me into measuring the wall where my current TV is hung, but I think 120″ would not quite fit, because of a door in the wall. I may have to restrict myself to 100″ or, perhaps, 110″! (BR)
