What They Say
The Elec reports that BOE and CSOT are developing new OLEDs for the Samsung Galaxy A73 that is expected for next year, alongside Samsung Display. The A73 is at the upper end of the Samsung mid-range headsets, just below the Galaxy S and Note series. The paper reports that CSOT has supplied a very small number of OLEDs for the low end Galaxy M line of smartphones. It also tried to develop the panels for a Galaxy M41 model that was scrapped as a project and SDC supplied the displays for the M51. (CSOT supplies Samsung with OLED for Galaxy M legacy models)
Other suppliers are being encouraged, the Elec said, to help put price pressure onto Samsung Display.
What We Think
The amount of news and rumours behind the Samsung and Apple OLED supply chains highlights the importance for those that want to be taken seriously as suppliers of the technology. (BR)
