BMW Motorrad’s ConnectedRide Smartglasses, Augmenting the Motorcycle Riding Experience

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the ConnectedRide Smartglasses. These cutting-edge motorcycle goggles incorporate head-up display (HUD) technology, similar to what is found in the automotive sector, enabling riders to access crucial information in real time and directly within their field of vision.

The ConnectedRide Smartglasses seamlessly connect to a user’s smartphone via Bluetooth and a dedicated app. Riders can configure the display settings and position the projection before their journey or even make adjustments on-the-go using the motorcycle’s handlebar-mounted multicontroller.

One of the key features of the smartglasses is the individual user interface, which provides riders with a personalized experience tailored to their specific needs. By projecting data such as navigation instructions, speed, and gear directly onto the rider’s field of vision, the ConnectedRide Smartglasses enable a more anticipatory and safer riding experience.

Moreover, BMW Motorrad has taken great care to ensure the smartglasses offer exceptional comfort. The design of both the smartglasses and the display has been specifically adapted to meet the unique requirements of motorcyclists. Additionally, the smartglasses can be adjusted to fit various helmet types and face shapes, guaranteeing comfortable wear even during long day trips. With a lithium-ion battery that provides up to ten hours of operation, riders can enjoy extended usage without interruption.

BMW Motorrad offers two sets of certified lenses with the ConnectedRide Smartglasses. One set features 85% transparency and is ideal for use with helmets that have integrated sun visors, while the other set comprises tinted lenses, effectively transforming the smartglasses into a versatile pair of sunglasses.

For riders who wear glasses, an RX adapter (+/- 4.5 diopters) is available for adjusting the lenses to the required visual acuity. This adapter can be conveniently ordered online directly from the provider, with the necessary information provided in the user manual of the ConnectedRide Smartglasses.
