Among the items announced by BMW at CES, there was a boost in the number of different interfaces for its BMW My Modes system. There are now five settings, up from the initial three of Sport, Efficient and Personal. There are now Relax and Expressive modes and these have up to 10 configurable settings.
What We Think
Once you get this kind of graphical interface, there is so much more opportunity for personalisation. As we’ve talked about for many years, those that can are moving to make products that are ‘mass customised’ as set out by Alvin Toffler in his book – now more than 50 years old – called ‘Future Shock’.
