What They Say
The Verge reports that Best Buy in the US is now offering repairs for Samsung’s foldable smartphones as well as the Galaxy S and Note ranges. Some stores have done this before, but Samsung said that this was a pilot programme.
What We Think
I have previously successfully replaced a display in a Samsung smartphone using a very good YouTube guide (although the compass never worked correctly again – I was never sure if this was part of the original damage or caused by my repair). However, there is no way I would want to dig into a folding device.
This article got me digging around iFixit and I spotted an interesting early start to a teardown of a MacBook Pro which suggests that it is easier to replace the battery than in recent years. That is a great step forward and perhaps a result of pressure on reliability issues. (BR)
