BenQ Focuses on Software, Panasonic Goes Android at ISE

BenQ and Panasonic have spoken about new display developments that they will showcase at ISE next month.

BenQ (4.U24) will use the show to highlight its software integration capabilities and vertical integration. The company will host a club lounge with video DJ booth, digital cocktail bar and interactive dance learning. Demonstrations of reference home cinema, meeting room and classroom displays will also be presented.

A variety of displays will power the stand. For example, the LU9715 and LU9235 laser projectors, which will be used to project content at angles that would be difficult to achieve with a lamp-based model. The PX9710 will be used as the source for a mapped projection. BenQ will also present its X-Sign digital signage software solution, on the ST550K UltraHD display; this enables fingertip management, editing and display of media content.

A new UltraHD projector, the W11000, will be showcased. This is a reference-grade model for home theatre. It features an extensive zoom and ‘extreme’ lens shift capabilities in both horizontal and vertical. A new home entertainment model, the W8000, will also be presented; this model is calibrated to deliver ‘precise’ Rec.709 colour and features five optional lenses.

Panasonic (1.H20) will launch a new series of digital signage displays using an SoC and open-source platform. The AF1 series will be launched in April, featuring a 1GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, with an Android and HTML5 OpenPort Platform. The screens are certified by Google, so special apps can be created and installed (remotely from the Panasonic app server or locally via USB/micro-SD).

The 42″, 49″ and 55″ displays have a 6.3mm bezel and have been developed for 24/7 use. They have 500 cd/m² of brightness and feature an IPS panel; they can also be used in portrait or landscape orientations. A media player is built in.
