The BBC’s research and development team will demonstrate Ultra HD Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR streaming over IP multicast at this year’s IBC conference in Amsterdam. The demonstration will take place as part of the show’s Future Zone exhibit.
The BBC says that its demonstration will feature HLG content recorded live during the summer and streamed live over an IP multicast network, dramatically reducing network loading and IP distribution costs. Content will be converted to unicast DVB-DASH and decoded by a DASH player in real time, displayed on a conventional UHD HDR TV available in stores. An additional demonstration will show dynamic adaptive streaming over IP multicast to a browser.
This year’s IBC conference and exhibition will take place at the RAI Amsterdam, between September 13th and 18th.
