What They Say
The UK-based audio specialist Bowers & Wilkins sent us a press release (BW_Formovie.pdf) to say that it has done a deal with Formovie, a Chinese company founded by Xiaomi and Appotronics, that is developing ‘cinema-pro’ quality UST laser projectors for the Chinese market using the latest ALPD RGB+ technology and DLP imager. The first model T1 model will have 2,800 Ansi lumens and 3,000:1 native contrast with support for HDR including HDR10+.
The B&W stereo sound system features two forward firing 70mm glass-fibre LF/MF drivers and two 20mm titanium tweeters, all mounted in their own, rigid ABS+GF enclosures, located at the outer edges of the front baffle – to ensure good dispersion. The two bass/mid drivers are ported to each side of the projector and feature B&W Flowport technology while the tweeters are protected by the proprietary, high transparency speaker mesh. B&W has specified a high-quality, 2 x 15W, TI amplifier and Dolby MS12 decoder while also including discrete sound modes specially tuned by their engineering team.
What We Think
I must say, this projector does sound pretty attractive. However, at the moment it is just available in China. (BR)
