AU Optronics (AUO) launched its first Mini-LED product line last week, including a 27″ gaming monitor, a 15.6″ gaming notebook and a 2″ display for VR wearables, according to LED Inside. The range will start shipping during the second half of 2018, starting with gaming monitors (AUO claims to be the leader in supplying panels for gaming monitors). The announcement was made by company president Michael Tsai who also said that the company’s focus this year will be on:
- 4K & 8K TV panels
- HDR technology
- 18:9 and full screen smartphone displays
- LTPS LCDs for automotive applications
- Mini LED backlights
Key vertical markets will continue to be public displays, industrial displays, and automotive displays.
