AUO has released more details of the panel used in the prototype HDR monitors that were shown by Acer and Asus at the recent CES. The M270QAN02.2 panels are 27″ UltraHD units with a 384 zone backlight and brightness of 600 to 1000 cd/m² and using AUO’s AHVA (IPS type) technology. Refresh rate is 144Hz and it is expected to start shipping in July. At CES, Nvidia told us that the panel has QDEF film and ‘close to P3’ performance. AUO is also reported to be working on a 32″ version with 400-800 cd/m² of brightness, but possibly with lower refresh rates. There is also likely to be a version of the 27″ panel with brightness of 350 cd/m².
We’ve also heard that AUO has a 27″ 2560 x 1440 curved panel using TN technology and with 400 cd/m² of brightness and 165Hz refresh, so aimed at gaming and likely to be in mass product soon. A 27″ FullHD version is planned for July.

We were impressed with the performance of the gaming HDR monitors that we saw at CES, although it looks as though pricing will be more expensive than gamers would like. LG Display also showed a high brightness IPS panel for HDR at the event. (BR)
