AU Optronics Shows a Multitude of Mobile Display Tech at Touch Taiwan

AU Optronics has brought numerous mobile device displays and technologies to Touch Taiwan 2018, the company said, including a 12.1″ full-colour TFT-driven microLED display technology with 169 pixels per inch and 1920 × 720 resolution; a vehicle cockpit display adopting direct bonding lamination to combine 12.3″ cluster, 13.2″ CID and 12.3″ front passenger seat displays; plus 3″ to 13.2″ displays for CID, rearview mirror and HUD displays.

The company is also showcasing 11.6″ to 15.6″ wide colour gamut, anti-reflection LTPS touch panels with brightness of over 300cd/m² for in-flight entertainment systems; a 2mm thick 13.3″ Full HD LTPS notebook PC display said to consume less than one watt of power when operating at 150cd/m² brightness; a 1.8mm thick 13.3″ Ultra HD notebook display with a 1.5mm border, 332 pixels per inch and 2500:1 contrast ratio; and a 13.3″ UHD narrow-border LTPS LCD supporting the use of a stylus.

Additionally, a series of 23″ to 27″ LCD displays for professional medical use such as ultrasound, imaging modality, endoscopic and micro-invasive surgeries will make their debut, among them a 27″ 2160p medical display with 800 cd/m² brightness and a wide viewing angle.

6.2″ to 7″ full-screen ultra-narrow-border LTPS displays free-form cut for smartphones, a mini LED-backlit LTPS display for VR headsets, square and true circle shaped in-cell touch AMOLEDs for smartwatches and an 8.8″ anti-glare mirror display with 1,000cd/m² brightness and using nanoimprinting technology for its wire grid polariser will also be on display.
