AU Optronics (AUO) reported a 10.4% year on year and 2.1% month on month drop in sales in June to NT$30.5 billion ($982.9 million). Sales in the second quarter of the year were also lower, at NT$92.3 billion ($2.9 billion), 3.1% lower than Q1 and 9.5% down from the second quarter of last year. June’s result brought sales so far this year to NT$187.6 billion ($6 billion), a decrease of 4.2% from the same period of last year.
AUO shipped 8.05 million large panels last month, down 7.1% from the previous month, while shipments in Q2 fell 7.1% quarter on quarter and 13.7% YoY, to 24.9 million units. AUO’s small and medium sized panel shipments increased 4.8% MoM in June to 16.88 million units, taking shipments in Q2 to over 48 million, representing a 12.6% increase from Q1 and 3.7% growth YoY.
