Franco-German TV network Arte has announced it will be running a UHD and HDR trial from September 12th – 22nd, in collaboration with Amazon CloudFront, AWS Elemental, Anyware Vidéo, ATEME, Cobalt, Globecast, Molotov, Philips, SES, TDF and Technicolor.
A combination of native and remastered content will be transmitted via the channel’s DTT networks, the Astra DTH platform, HbbTV connected TVs and Molotov TV, a French OTT platform. Video feeds will also be available to watch at IBC 2018, which takes place in Amsterdam from September 13th – 18th.
The trial will allow partners to experiment with various transmission standards and broadcast systems and compare the resultant image quality. HDR10, HLG and SL-HDR (Technicolor) are among the technologies being tested.
