I had just finished proofreading a story today on Apple’s restructuring of supply chains, and then this hit my inbox. In the article, I referenced recent transfers of manufacturing from China to Vietnam, and Taiwan. This just shows the astonishing pace and power of Apple. Obviously, this was all thought out and planned during the pandemic, but there were so many uncertainties at that time as well. These are long term shifts, tectonic plate movements. Nevertheless, it is a significant shift in supply chains for any company, let alone one of Apple’s size. It’s going to be interesting to see how the restructuring of the industry, particularly the display industry, impacts opportunities for startups, and suppliers outside of Asia.
