Apple WWDC: Tech Giant Makes Co-Viewing Core Part of Screen Experience

What They Say

Apple held its Worldwide Developers Conference. There was lots of news, but not a lot related to displays that we spotted. However, the company did say that it is working to make co-viewing of video or audio content easier and is working with services including DIsney Plus, Paramount Plus, and HBO Max to enable such co-viewing of their programming directly through its devices. The technology will be called SharePlay.

The Apple TV app will get a new Shared With You on-screen widget for keeping track of shows suggested by friends, and an “All of You” space in the streaming interface will suggest family-friendly shows likely to appeal to everyone watching.

The article on nexttv.com has a lot more detail on how it will work.

What We Think

During these pandemic times, I must admit that I would have enjoyed watching my favourite local soccer team much more if I had been able to interact with other fans and friends from the club while watching. Without a crowd and with only the commentators’ opinions, it really wasn’t the same! (BR)
