What They Say
Macworld reported that a “very small percentage” of Apple Watch Series 6 devices could be affected by a problem known as the “Black Screen of Death” that causes the display to go completely black although the device may appear to function. The problem is said to have happened on the Series 2, 3 and 5, but has been more common on Series 6.
Apple has said that that it will fix 40mm units made between April and September 2021 and there is a widget on the support page to check eligibility.
What We Think
If reported over the last few months on the temptation that I have been having to go to a Mac system for my next desktop. I had been very positive about a switch until, a couple of weeks ago, I realised that the video editor that I have used for years, Vegas Video, was not supported on the platform. Hmmm…. However, today, I was making a 4K video and after Vegas crashed (and took forever to update), the four minute video took nearly two hours to render, although there was not much processing. Just out of curiosity, I thought I’d try it on the iPad Pro. I bought some new software ($30) and did the edits and crops. The render took three minutes and it was a transformed experience. It looks as though despite the learning curve I’ve been on with Vegas, it will be essential to switch to a Mac next time. (BR)
