Apple Says It Will Fix Face ID Failure on Third-Party Screen Repairs

What They Say

We reported recently on problems for third party repairers after failures with Face ID after the change of displays (iFixit confirms iPhone 13 disables Face ID after third-party screen repair). However Apple told ‘The Verge’ that it will make a software update that means that Face ID can continue to operate, without the need to transfer a microcotroller, which is a tricky process. No date was given for the change.

What We Think

It’s not clear whether this news was a reaction to grumbling online or whether Apple already had this development in its plans. (BR)
