Warranty Week has had a deep dive into Apple’s warranty and extended warranty business and found that the company has been doing better and better over recent years. IT’s warranty accruals have fallen to a new low level, although product volumes were not so sharply down. The publication (admitting “everything below is based on estimates, fantasy, conjecture, and wild guesses”) believes that Apple is bringing in over $8 billion from AppleCare and Giftcards.

A friend worked for many years in the product management of a major electronics brand. He was initially disappointed to be moved into the warranty side of the business, but within a few years he believed he was making more of a profit contribution than he ever had marketing hardware! (BR)
