Apple Putting iPhone on Extreme Diet

Apple is rumored – I use the term loosely because everything seems to revolved around an Apple rumor these days – to launch the iPhone 17 lineup in late 2025, introducing a super slim model, the iPhone 17 Slim or iPhone 17 Air, with a 6mm-thick chassis. It’s all speculation but it may suggest that before foldables, Apple is going to try and beat the competition on style points.

If it happens as rumored, the iPhone 17 Slim, or whatever it ends up being called, would make it the thinnest iPhone ever, though not Apple’s thinnest device, as the 2024 iPad Pro is just 5.1mm thick. The iPhone 17 Slim is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display, single rear camera, and a titanium-aluminum alloy body for durability.

The social are abuzz with suggestions that the slim design will use a Resin-Coated Copper (RCC) motherboard to reduce thickness, though battery limitations prevent it from being thinner than the iPad Pro. TSMC is anticipated to remain the exclusive processor manufacturer, leveraging its 3nm technology for this model. This redesign may replace Apple’s current Plus lineup, which seems to be exciting the fanboys.
