The US PTO has published two new Apple patents relating to OLED displays. One details a method to extend the lifespan of an OLED display – an area of concern for the company. The patent lists ways to adjust an OLED display to maintain a desired appearance, and to emit light at a desired brightness and/or colour. Calibration curves may also be used to adjust the driving strengths of OLEDs (or OLED zones), to compensate for ambient light and ageing effects.
